Glaciers that covered the Dales, the Romans, Vikings , Normans, the miners and farmers – all have left their mark on the Yorkshire Dales.

The museum is housed in an old railway station, and tells the fascinating story of the Yorkshire Dales and the people who have lived and worked here and shaped the landscape for thousands of years.

With loads of fun and interesting things for visitors of all ages to see and do, the Dales Countryside Museum offers the chance to discover what is so unique about the Yorkshire Dales and make your visit to the area really special.

As well as the galleries showcasing objects from the weird to the wonderful, there is also a programme of special exhibitions that offer something new to see and a range of exciting events and activities, giving you the chance to roll up your sleeves and try something different!
