Charming canals, picturesque cycling routes and an abundance of activities for thrill seekers: there’s never a dull moment in Calderdale.
A meandering canal cruise combined with traditional afternoon tea or Sunday lunch along the way is a tranquil way to experience the delights of Calderdale.
The more adventurous can hire boats from Shire Cruises or Bronte Boats and set off to navigate one of the most beautiful canal stretches in the country. To get your heart racing even faster, brave Yorkshire’s largest climbing wall at ROKT, go grass sledging at Another World Adventure Centre or try zip wires at Creative International Adventures.
If cycling is your thing then try one of the many flat bike trails along the pretty canal. Or challenge yourself to some of Calderdale’s Tour de France route: there’s 22 miles (35 km) of it to choose from, including England’s longest continual incline, Cragg Vale.
Calderdale is in West Yorkshire with several local train stations including Halifax, which is approximately 3 hours north of London by train.
