Take a stroll along Cleveley's promenade to see The Mythical Coastline Sculpture Trail - this series of interactive sculptures was inspired by a children's story and is completely free to follow. You can also head out onto the sands to build sandcastles and make beach sculptures. Discover more about the nautical history of the area at the Fleetwood Maritime Museum (Under 16s are free) and why Fleetwood has three lighthouses.

Cross the estuary on the Knott End passenger ferry and look out for the skeletons of old fishing boats in the sand banks at low tide. For more outdoor exploration Wyre Estuary Country Park (free entry) has a choice of walking, cycling and bird spotting opportunities, and makes a great picnic spot. At sunset make your way to Rossall Tower in Fleetwood to experience stunning views across Morecambe Bay - a perfect (and free) way to end the day.
