Head to Shakespeare’s home town and join the annual party that marks the anniversary of the world-famous playwright’s birth.
Every year for the last two centuries, visitors to Stratford-upon-Avon have joined celebrations to mark Shakespeare’s birthday. The weekend-long party brings together performers, artists and fans from all over the world to remember the legendary Bard. Henley Street is home to revelry and merriment of all descriptions, including street entertainment, Tudor party games and re-enactments of famous scenes – like the balcony scene from Romeo and Juliet.
Head to any of Shakespeare's five Family Homes (including Anne Hathaway’s Cottage) for a slice of birthday cake, or take the Sonnet Ferry across the River Avon, where actors from the RSC on board the ferry will recite the playwright’s most popular sonnets as you drift across the water.
Shakespeare's Birthday Celebrations take place across Stratford-upon-Avon on 27 April.
