Celebrate 800 years of the Magna Carta in historic Salisbury

Salisbury, Wiltshire

Marvel at England’s most important document, the Magna Carta, on a visit to the historic city of Salisbury.

To mark 800 years since the prestigious charter was written, the city’s medieval cathedral will host a series of festivals, fairs and concerts throughout the year.

There’ll be an interactive exhibition where you can view the national treasure in its best-preserved form as well as a series of lectures from top international speakers. A medieval fair and gala concert will add to the calendar of events as well as the week-long Magna Flora flower festival.

There's plenty more to discover such as Salisbury Museum, The Rifles Museum, Arundells (the former home of Prime Minister, Sir Edward Heath) and the National Trust’s Mompesson House all within the Cathedral Close.

After a busy day exploring the city on the Magna Carta-inspired Barons’ trail, check into one of the boutique guesthouses like St Anns House, which is just a short stroll from the Cathedral.
