The perfect musical accompaniment on a winter evening in Cambridge.
There’s nothing quite as heart-warming or romantic as sitting hand-in-hand and experiencing the King’s College Choir fill up King’s College Chapel with their angelic voices as bustling Cambridge winds down for Christmas.
A heads-up for you: the yearly carol service is so popular; it could cost you an entire day’s queuing and could still leave you out in the cold. Those in the know head to the far more regular and intimate evensong services.
As an experience, hearing King’s College Choir is up there among the best. Hearing the choir’s voices ascend through such a grand building steeped in s history is uplifting in the extreme.
The full choir sings on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday up until the 1 December. That’s the closest date to Christmas; you can of course hear evensong all throughout the year, during term time.
