Breeze up to the Downs

Brighton & Hove, East Sussex

The stunning South Downs countryside is just a short bus ride away from the centre of Brighton.

Hop on an open-topped bus from Brighton Pier and you’ll soon be taken away from the hustle and bustle of the city to the tranquil countryside.

Beautiful Stanmer Park has lots to explore – from woodlands to a historic country house. Stanmer House was once the home of the prestigious Pelham family, but today it’s a good spot for lunch using locally sourced ingredients. The park hosts a variety of family-friendly events throughout the summer including the Kite Festival and Apple Day.

Find the Earthship, which was built with used tyres and other recyclable materials, and be inspired by its green credentials.

The Breeze up to the Downs bus service also runs to the beauty spots of Ditchling Beacon and Devil’s Dyke.
