The University of Essex is located in Colchester, Britain's oldest recorded town. It provides an ideal base to explore the beautiful surrounding countryside made famous by artists such as John Constable.
It was founded in 1964 as a research-intensive university with a focus on social sciences, humanities, sciences, law and business. The institution also has some of the most advanced sporting facilities in the country, and research and educational initiatives by the university were linked to the London 2012 Olympic Games.
A wide range of flexible meeting and conference rooms are available, with capacities ranging from 15-1,000. The iLab is an inspirational facility equipped with state-of-the-art technology, and is especially designed to encourage creative thinking and stimulate minds.
As well as campus accommodation, the university estate is home to the stately 18th-century manor hotel, Wivenhoe House. It sits within 200 acres of elegant parkland and is available for corporate stays.
