Sheffield incentives
Chatsworth House | Rooftop tour of Wentworth Woodhouse | Create bespoke jewellery | Knife forging
Sheffield is the only major UK city with a National Park within its boundary so it’s awash with outdoor incentive ideas such as climbing, bike tours, walking and caving.
The proximity of Sheffield to the surrounding Peak District means that guests will soon be back in the heart of the city to enjoy evening social programmes and world-class dining.
Chatsworth House
Chatsworth House in Bakewell, Derbyshire, is home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire. It has a long tradition of inspirational entertaining, having been passed down through 16 generations of the Cavendish family. Private tours and talks from knowledgeable guides will stimulate and inspire groups as they explore the enchanting house, gardens and greenhouses, or even behind-the-scenes to discover how the estate is run. The opulent Painted Hall and Sculpture Gallery are both ideal settings to hold an elegant Champagne reception, while Chatsworth’s chefs can provide guests with taste experiences of local specialities, such as an original Bakewell pudding. |
Rooftop tour of Wentworth Woodhouse
Wentworth Woodhouse is a Grade I-listed stately home in South Yorkshire, with the longest façade of any country house in England. It stands in 87 acres of gardens and grounds and has extensive views over former parkland, including a deer park and lakes. Hour-long guided tours of its roof allows guests a close-up view of the larger-than-life statues and huge chimneys erected during Georgian times whilst also affording stunning views of the estate and surrounding countryside. On certain days, groups can also witness the roof’s restoration in action. |
Create bespoke jewellery
The Sheffield CAST experience is an indulgent opportunity to craft beautiful bespoke jewellery pieces. Groups can create rings, necklaces, earrings and charms using jewellers wax. CAST will then finish-off these creations in 925 sterling silver. These private jewellery-making events can take place in restaurants, bars, hotels or the conference venue and can therefore be combined with a food or wine-tasting experience. |
Knife forging
Sheffield is home to skilled artisans, making knives and scissors from Sheffield steel and using traditional methods. Largely hand-made and forged from small factories, these artisans are preserving highly-skilled techniques, which have long been the hallmark of Sheffield-made knives. Introduce groups to this trade in the City of Steel by introducing them to knife artist, Will Ferraby, who will demonstrate the art of making hand-forged knives.
