Lewis Caroll wrote Alice in Wonderland during his stays in the village of Cowley, drawing inspiration from the grounds of Cowley Manor. 

Groups can follow in Caroll’s curious footsteps with a quintessentially British afternoon tea or private dining for up to 16 guests in the Garden Room, with views of the 12th century church, upper lake and grounds.
