What did you enjoy most about filming in Cumbria?

The opportunity to shoot scenes set in the middle of some of the most amazing countryside in the country.

How does filming in Cumbria differ from other locations?

The majority of filming, which took place in Cumbria, was shot outdoors unlike other locations, which was done mostly in a studio.

Favourite place in Cumbria?

Windermere.

Favourite memory of a holiday in England?

Spending a week with my family on a boating holiday on the Norfolk Broads.

Favourite place in England?

Leeds - I stayed here whilst filming parts of the film and found it to be a really exciting and vibrant city with lots to do.

Orla Hill (Susan Walker)

What did you enjoy most about filming in Cumbria?

I enjoyed the incredible views as you went to and from set. The friendliness of the people in Ambleside where we were based. And I loved the amazing night sky and the waterfalls.

How does filming in Cumbria differ from other locations?

It's different because of the size; it's not just that it's beautiful but that the scale is so big, it's awe-inspiring. I loved how the skies and the light changed and you could see the weather rolling in. I also loved how still and quiet it could be in the middle of a lake.

Favourite place in Cumbria?

I loved all the lakes we filmed on. I loved walking round Great Langdale to Dungeon Ghyll, walking around Rydal Water with the cast and going in the caves.

Favourite memory of a holiday in England?

Until I went to Lakes, I would have said my favourite memory of a holiday in England would be body boarding in north Cornwall near Tintagel and crabbing in Fowey.

Favourite place in England?

I love Crackington Haven in Cornwall and the Lake District.

What are your memories of reading the book Swallows and Amazons? Do you remember feeling inspired by the children’s adventures?

I loved the independence and the freedom the children had, it’s something that we don't get a lot of now. For example, the children said we want to go to the island, so they sorted it all out, and then they sailed themselves to the island. I think it's inspiring that children had such willingness to try new things and different experiences - and were allowed to do them!

What did you enjoy most about filming in Cumbria?

Filming in Cumbria was lots of fun.  I really loved swimming in the lakes and running through the woods when we were being chased by the Amazons. We had the chance to go on lots of boats and of course sailing on the Lakes was brilliant. The scenery was really wild and amazing.  At night it was really, really dark and you could see loads of stars.

How does filming in Cumbria differ from other locations?

Filming was different as quite often we were in really remote places and we had to carry everything there, including the toilets and the kitchen!

Favourite place in Cumbria?

My favourite place was Crummock Water.

Favourite place in England?

St Mawes Castle in Cornwall is my favourite place in England and jumping off the harbour wall in St Mawes.

What are your memories of reading the book Swallows and Amazons? Do you remember feeling inspired by the children’s adventures?

I really want to sail to an island with my brothers and survive without my parents just like the Swallows.

Teddie Malleson-Allen (Tatty Walker)

What did you enjoy most about filming in Cumbria?

The landscape is epic, the hills, waterfalls, lakes and there is nobody there. The plants are super-sized.

Favorite place in Cumbria?

On my day off we went to Zefferellis in Ambleside. Its a cinema, jazz bar and italian restaurant! After the film i had my favorite spaghetti Bolognese. We also went to ‘World of Illusion’ in Keswick, its a small museum filled with loads of optical illusions and puzzles. Its amazing!! I would recommend traveling through the area on the open top bus, it was like being on a fair ground ride. We got soaked from the branches above.

Favorite place in England?

The West Country where I live, we have rivers, canals, bluebells woods, cows on the common that come into our garden if we forget to close the gate. Me and my friends are camping in our field this half term.

What are your memories of reading Swallows and Amazons?

I really liked the character of Titty, because she is brave and adventurous. She loves books like me!

Seren Hawkes (Nancy Blackett)

What did you enjoy most about filming in Cumbria?

Waking up every morning and seeing the incredible and beautiful scenery.

How does filming in Cumbria differ from other locations?

Filming Swallows and Amazons in Cumbria felt really natural and made the whole adventure come to life.

Favourite place in Cumbria?

Lake Coniston, because that’s where Wildcat Island is.

Favourite memory of a holiday in England?

My favourite holiday memory is from Croyde in Devon, because my dad taught me to surf there.

Favourite place in England?

Southsea, because that’s where I live, and there’s loads to do.

What are your memories of reading the book Swallows and Amazons? Do you remember feeling inspired by the children’s adventures?

Reading Swallows and Amazons inspired me to learn to sail and be more adventurous.

What did you enjoy most about filming in Cumbria?

Filming in The Lakes was amazing. With the outstanding scenery and being able to be outdoors for nearly the whole summer, it was a summer to remember. The thing I enjoyed most about filming in Cumbria is possibly being outdoors. With being in The Lakes we are not in the centre of the action and it's very peaceful.

How does filming in Cumbria differ from other locations?

Cumbria is an amazing place as it is very scenic. Also, not many films have been filmed in Cumbria so in a way it's very unique. This film will be special to The Lakes as it was originally set in Cumbria itself and has a lot of history with the book.

My favourite place outside of London?

My favourite place is probably Robin Hood's Bay. A quiet little sea side town where I've been on a few holidays with close family. It's special to me because I have a lot of memories there and it has and will always be one of my favourite places.

What are your memories of reading Swallows and Amazons?

Reading the book changed my perspective of how I saw the auditions. I wanted to be Peggy and I connected with the character in so many ways, and reading the book helped me understand how to become Peggy. The adventures described in the book inspired me to work harder because quite frankly, I wanted to live those adventures. Sailing on the lake, sleeping under the stars, who wouldn't want that? In many ways the book is what motivated me to work for the part, and what motivated me to try and become the best Peggy I could be.
