Haven parks are located all around the English coastline with some surprising history. Here are just a few snippets from the Haven park timeline.
240 million years ago dinosaurs walked on the sandy beach at Devon Cliffs in Exmouth, Brian O’Brien tells us more.
In 1311 the inhabitants of Haggerston Castle were part of the invading force of William the Conqueror. The Slough Fort at Allhallows in Kent built in 1867 to hold seven guns is now part of Slough Fort children’s farm and riding stables. Over 100 years ago at Caister in Norfolk the first campers were welcomed in Bell tents and this became the very first every holiday park to open in the UK.
In line with the heritage of their parks Haven offers the opportunity to learn some traditional sports and crafts such as fencing and archery and basic survival skills in their Nature RockZ sessions. However you’ll find Haven’s accommodation, facilities and entertainment are very much 21st century! Find out more www.haven.com
