Tourist Information Centres

TICs are here to help you get the most out of your break in England. Just look out for the sign, give them a call or find them online.

You’ll find Tourist Information Centres in convenient locations across England – these experts on the local area are the ideal first port of call to help you get the most out of your visit. Handy!

Pop in for friendly, reliable advice on everything from where to get the best pint and find the newest boutique shops to where to park for local attractions. TIC staff have an in-depth knowledge of the area and will not only be able to help you with things like booking the best B&B for you but give you all kinds of insider tips for discovering the area’s hidden gems too.

If you’re planning on staying for a day, a weekend break or longer, TIC staff will help make your visit as good as it can be. You can chat to them over the phone, online or in person. And if you’re from further afield, they’ll even be able to help you with information about the country as a whole.

There are over 200 VisitEngland Official Partner centres scattered across the country, with the sole intention of helping you get the best possible holiday experience, from planning your trip to your journey home. Any question at any stage – TICs are here to help.

Some destinations offer a Greeter welcome – volunteers who love their area so much that they want to share their information with you, helping transform a weekend break into an adventure-packed weekend of discovery, full of hidden gems and special experiences. The service usually lasts between two to four hours, caters for individuals or small groups and can be pre-booked online before you arrive. Although not professional guides, these dedicated individuals have the passion and inside-knowledge to make your stay that much more memorable. And for free! What’s not to love?  Brighton, Kent, London and Winchester definitely offer Greeters to their visitors but if you are unsure you can always contact the local TIC to find out.
