Watch history come to life at Morwellham Quay in Devon

Morwellham Quay, Devon

Take a living history lesson from the team at Morwellham Quay, a beautifully preserved Victorian village in the Devon countryside.

For a family day out which is rich in history, you can’t do better than a visit to Morwellham Quay. This World Heritage site on the River Tamar, four miles from Tavistock, features an historic port, copper mine ans village.

But the main attraction of Morwellham has to be the narrow-gauge Mine Railway, which takes visitors along the banks of the Tamar and into the George and Charlotte copper mine, to give a real insight into the working conditions of Victorian miners. The past is brought vividly to life by this beautiful village and the surrounding landscape, which provides a well-earned escape from modern life.
