Located on the site of the former Snibston Colliery created by famous railway pioneer George Stephenson, there’s a whole world for you to discover. Snibston comprises an interactive museum, historic colliery railway, outside play areas and a Country Park and nature reserve covering over 40 hectares of mixed habitats.
From the earliest mining tools, prototype jet engine to the largest fashion display outside London, there is plenty to explore at this must-see museum. As the region's largest interactive museum, Snibston showcases Leicestershire's science, technology and design collections including major innovations in transport and engineering history.
Explore the five major galleries and check out the latest exhibitions; or go outside to ride 'Pitt' the diesel locomotive, take a tour with an ex-Miner and have fun in play areas. And don't forget to visit Snibston Country Park and explore the Grange Nature Reserve and walking trails.
