Seafood, real ale and free music in bundles
Scarborough, North Yorkshire
Throw three sheets to the salty Scarborough wind, with a smorgasbord of food and drink fit for the most famed of seafarers.
Scarborough is one of England’s best-loved seaside destinations. No wonder, then, that the town makes the most of its proud maritime heritage at the Scarborough Seafest, a celebration of all things water-born. The first thing watering, though, will be your mouth, as you wander through dozens of seafood stalls.
Local arts and crafts are also on show – plus a selection of real ales and beers that even the most sozzled of seamen would be envious of.
A musical theme runs throughout the festival, underpinned by Scarborough’s popular Acoustic Gathering. And if your senses haven’t been sufficiently assaulted in three days, then stay for the impressive fireworks display, before you find your land legs again. Caution: that may take some time.
