Discover a collection of hidden heritage attractions based in and around the city centre which is housed in historically significant buildings. This group is well worth a visit and includes the Manchester Jewish Museum, Victoria Baths and the Greater Manchester Police and Museum Archives.

The International Anthony Burgess Foundation, housed in a former engine room, holds an archive of rare books, manuscripts, correspondence and photographs relating to the life and work of Anthony Burgess, author of A Clockwork Orange, along with a cafe and bar.

The Hidden Gem church has served the people of Manchester for over 200 years. This free-to-access building is open to visitors keen to immerse themselves into the city’s rich history.

The Portico Library and Gallery is a beautifully decorated library with over 25,000 books and an array or 19th Century collections. Members of this noble institution include Manchester icons John Dalton, Elizabeth Gaskell and Elbow frontman Guy Garvey.

Set inside a former Victorian schoolhouse, visitors could easily miss the Great John Street Hotel, but once inside guests can enjoy outstanding service and select from a range of room types to meet any requirements.
