Go camping in the grounds of one of England’s finest stately homes

Malton, North Yorkshire

Take the kids camping on a child friendly holiday at Castle Howard near York, where a thousand breath-taking acres await for you to explore.

Don’t worry – there’s no danger of the children knocking over priceless vases and antiques. Instead, there are excellent family holidays available at Castle Howard’s Lakeside Holiday Park, which opens for tents and tourers each year in March, just in time for the UK Easter holidays.

The site is just a mile from the house and 1,000-acre grounds, and next to the dramatic Great Lake, so child-friendly walks and activities are right on hand, from springtime garden strolls to children’s trails and adventure playground.

There’s also another 120-acre garden of amazing trees in the neighbouring Yorkshire Arboretum, where flowering spring bulbs, family activities and shady woodland playground keep the young and young-at-heart amused and occupied.
