Explore the Lake District

Cumbria

Discover the 200 fells, pikes and dales of the Lakes in a vintage camper van.

England has only one true mountain range, and though it was once as mighty as the Himalayas, millions of years of glacial, wind and river erosion have instead shaped this exceptionally old land into one of the most beautiful corners of the world.

The 200 fells, pikes and dales of the Lakes have captured the imagination of everybody from Wordsworth to Wainwright. The perfect terrain then, to explore in a vintage camper van as you dip, duck and splash through the fords for a long weekend, rocking up at cool camping spots.

Choose between a lakeside spot, a family friendly campsite, a quiet no-noise-after-10pm spot, or an adults-only site. And then there are the Farm Pitches - the English Agritourismos - where you can rock up to some scrumptious farms to recharge the batteries. Yours and the camper van's!

And of course, you’re always free to go native and stop to watch the sun go down over mountains that Wordsworth described as “lifting themselves in ridges like the waves of a tumultuous sea, and in the beauty and variety of their surfaces and colours, they are surpassed by none". With a flask of tea and a woollen blanket over the lap, there’s no better, or more English feeling.Go on, rev a little.
