Discover Windermere’s secret shore on the West Shore Cycleway

Bowness-on-Windermere, Cumbria

Explore a quieter side of the Lake District on the Windermere West Shore Cycleway.

This traffic free cycleway hugs the quieter Western shoreline of Lake Windermere, and takes in approximately 4 miles of gently undulating off-road trail suitable for most bikes and riders, including families.

You can start from the Windermere Ferry in Bowness-on-Windermere, paying a small fee for yourself and your bike. Or from Brockhole, the Lake District Visitor Centre, where over the summer you can catch a dedicated bike boat service. Either way, it makes for a great day out and there is no better way to explore than on two wheels.
