At Jackfield Tile Museum you can see, touch and walk on magnificent British tiles as you wander through the original trade showrooms and period room settings. A pub, butcher’s shop, hospital ward and Edwardian tube station are all housed in the original tile factory buildings. See the Craven Dunnill factory in operation and create your own tile during school holidays.

Then head to Enginuity science and technology museum and find out how a little ingenuity will empower you to pull a 10-ton locomotive or generate electricity. You can even have a go at building an earthquake-proof tower or challenge the robotic arm. The hands-on activities and design-and-make workshops will keep the family busy whatever the weather.

You can complete your historical day with a stay at the Best Western Valley Hotel, which is the former home of the Maws family – the tile manufacturers who started a global industry from.
