Learn about ordinary people who lived extraordinary lives as you discover the story of Durham’s own regiment – the Durham Light Infantry.

The Durham Light Infantry Museum is acclaimed as being one of the finest regimental museums in England, and tells the story of Durham’s own regiment.

It has a fascinating collection of uniforms, equipment, weapons, photographs and relics covering the whole history of the regiment from its formation in 1758.

Hear the stories of the horrors of the First World War and get hands on with interactive displays. 

Visitors can enter the medal room and see seven original Victoria Crosses on show, along with more than 3,000 other medals awarded to over a thousand men who served in one of the finest county regiments.
