Uncovering a beautiful and historic area can sometimes be hard on the feet, so why not spend some (or even all of your time!) floating your way through history instead.

There are plenty of waterborne options on the River Thames; canoeing, rowing, sailing and day tours.

The simplest way to explore the river is on a rowing boat. Hire one from one of the traditional rowing clubs that line the Thames. Stop off and take part in sailing lessons with the kids, throw yourself into nature at one of the many parks that reach the riverbanks, or even discover part of our rich heritage at HM The Queen's favourite residence – Windsor Castle.

Why not make a holiday of it and hire a narrowboat. Kitted out in luxurious accommodation, you can be lulled to sleep each night by the lapping waters. And relax.
