Discover the story behind the Staffordshire Hoard, the largest and most valuable Anglo-Saxon treasure ever found.
The old saying goes that ‘all that glitters is not gold’. Come and see for yourself at part of the £3.25m worth of Staffordshire Hoard that is on display at the Potteries Museum & Art Gallery in Stoke-on-Trent.
It is the most valuable collection of Anglo-Saxon treasure ever discovered and tells us much about life and death in past times. The exhibition itself presents 180 pieces of the hoard, amongst them crosses, decorative items and fragments of armourwear, along with items from the museum’s collection of Anglo-Saxon finds.
The imposing 9ft sculpture of a Staffordshire Saxon warrior guards the entrance to the exhibition and visitors can enjoy ‘The Last Dragon-Hunter’, a new animated film telling the story of Anglo-Saxon England.
