Carroll's Inspiration

© Disney Enterprises, Inc

Carroll often based his fictional characters on real people he knew, and this could be true of the White Rabbit who, in his constant hastiness (and tardiness), is said to resemble  a colleague Dean Liddell, who was the father of Alice, for whom the stories were written.

Christ Church Oxford

Lewis Carroll was born Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, on 27th January 1832. The pen-name Lewis Carroll did not emerge until much later after his publishing career had got underway. He was baptised at All Saints' Church, Daresbury and you can still see the original baptismal font in the church where the Carroll brow was consecrated.
