A cabin without the fever

I

f you're feeling the need for some back-to-basics, fresh air relaxation, but aren't quite ready to give up the flat-screen TV and fitted kitchen, then we think we've found you just the right place.

At Spring Bank Farm, on the Cumbrian coast, you can book into one of two Scandinavian-style log cabins, which look out over the sea to the Isle of Man.

The cabins are tucked away in the grounds of the rare breed farm, where chickens strut about on the grass outside – and you can even collect your own eggs for breakfast if you fancy it.

There's tons to do in the area – whether you're up for a stroll along to nearby St Bees Head, where guillemots swoop about among the cliffs – or simply fancy a day at the beach with a bucket and spade.

The cycling's pretty good around here, too, with the famous Coast-to-Coast (C2C) cycleway starting in nearby Whitehaven, a few miles away, before leading you off into the lanes.

And after a day of fresh air, you get to head back to your cosy two-bedroom cabin – which has enough space for the whole family – where you can cook up a storm in the fully fitted kitchen, chill out with a DVD or sit back on your balcony and watch the sunset. It's enough to make you relaxed just thinking about it...
