Shop 'til you drop in the heart of the Old City
A
toast, please, to Bristol… After all, there’s a lot to love it for. Like music (trip-hop and drum and bass), art (it’s the birthplace of elusive graffiti artist, Banksy, you know) and of course, cider.
But even all this is only scratching the surface. The shopping here is pretty good, too – and we’re not talking one of those annoying malls where it’s all ‘same old shops – different shaped building’. No sirree. Located in the heart of the Old City, you could easily lose track of time among strolling the winding cobbled lanes, ducking into boutiques, quirky jewellers, second- hand bookstores and old vinyl shops.
And if all that shopping leaves you feeling a tad peckish, why not refuel at one of the indie eateries dotted around the place. We particularly like Caribbean Wrap (the jerk chicken on coco bread is dee-licious); or how about a proper old fashioned pie at Pieminister in the Glass Arcade?
If you’re in town on a Wednesday you can buy cheese, honey, fruit and veg direct from the producers at the farmers’ market, too, and head off to the park for a picnic. By this point, you’ll probably be in love with the place too…
