Richmond Farmers' Market

Rare breed pork and Ostrich burgers, anyone?

I

f you’re looking for a weekend away with a foodie twist, we think we’ve found the ideal place.

There are lots of reasons to love Richmond – including its riverside walks, lovely old Georgian houses and some partcularly excellent restaurants – but it’s the monthly farmers’ market that gets us really excited.

Actually it’s called the Northern Dales Farmers’ Market to be precise, and the stalls only sell produce grown within 50 miles.

Pick up some rare breed pork from the Blue Pig Company or some ostrich burgers from the Weatheroak Ostrich Farm, something sweet from Shire Honey or some Swaledale Old Peculiar from the Yorkshire Dales Cheese Co.

You’ll find plenty here to make your mouth water (including chutneys, pastries, pasties and vegetables), so why not load up your shopping bags (reusable of course) and head back to your luxury eco cabin at nearby Brompton Lakes to cook up a storm?
