More sunshine than anywhere else in the UK

I

f there’s one reason to go to the Isle of Wight, it’s the weather. Yes really. It might only be three miles or so off the south coast of England, but this place gets more sunshine than anywhere else in the UK – around five hours a day to be exact (so don’t forget your Factor 15).

And while it may be smallish (roughly 23 miles x 13 miles), it’s perfectly formed, for surfing, windsurfing, wakeboarding and just about any other water-basedadventure sport you can think of. Many of the beaches here are sandy and gently shelving, so you can paddle out for almost half a mile in some places andstill touch the bottom.

Why not have a go at windsurfing at Dunroamin Beach in the town of Lake, where the guys at Wight Water Adventure will have you up and about in no time. Or if it’s kite-surfing you’re after, then head further round the island, to Bembridge – a shallow, sheltered bay that’s ideal for learning.

Of course it’s not all about surfing and sailing. Maybe you’d rather… climb a tree instead. Book a relaxed session with Goodleaf Tree Climbing and you could escape the crowds and lie back in a hammock, soaking up the peace and quiet (fully harnessed up of course).

We make that at least four good reasons to come then.
