A treat for the senses in the Lake District…
D
azzling pyrotechnics and ferocious drumming among glistening lakes and towering mountains make for an unmissable spectacle in the north west.
On 21 June, avant-garde French performance group Les Commandos Percu and several local performers take to the shores of Windermere for a glorious celebration that will accentuate the natural beauty of the Lake District with world-class theatrical performance.
Part of Lakes Alive and the London 2012 Festival, the first event, On the Night Shift, will start a few hours after the arrival of the Olympic torch at Windermere.
And the wizards of drum-thumping and fire promise to keep the celebrations in full swing with a unique visual and audio extravaganza that will see fire-spewing musical instruments, dazzling light shows, mind-blowing percussion and the dancing reflections of hundreds of glittering fireworks in the lake. Have your sparklers and dancing shoes at the ready!
This is the first of many show-stopping events planned for the Lakes Alive festival in the summer.
