Liverpool Beatles TourView map
There are places I remember...
elp! Need somebody? Not just anybody? Or, err, just pining for the 60s?
When it comes to the Beatles, there’s no better a city with a better Fab Four heritage than Liverpool or – come to think of it – a better themed hotel than the aptly-named Hard Days Night.
But to get a real feel for Britain’s first boy band, you’ve got to go back. Waaay back. In absence of a time machine, the National Trust is on hand with an exclusive magical mystery tour of Mendips and 20 Forthlin Road, the humble homes where John Lennon and Paul McCartney grew up.
After sneaking into the 1960s through the back door, you can take a seat on John Lennon’s bed and listen to the house custodian bring each room – and their personal items – to life.
From there it’s on to the terraced house where Paul McCartney hosted rehearsal sessions with his three band-mates - in the calm before the storm. The passionate guides at each house can convert even the most reluctant Beatles fan – so it’s safe to bring the kids along as well.
