Olympic aspirations
S
lap on some sunblock, grab a lifejacket and take to the waves at Weymouth. According to the Royal Yachting Association they’re the best sailing waters in Northern Europe. Mind you, you’d hope they would be; this is where the 2012 Olympic sailing events will be held. Get a head start on the pros and who knows – you could end up striking gold.
If you already know what you’re doing, drop into Weymouth Charters, where there’s a good selection of sailing yachts, motor cruisers, RIBs and (if you’re feeling flush) a 90-foot superyacht.
There’s no shame in starting off small, though. So if you’re merely looking to dip a toe in the water (and hopefully nothing more), then why not book a lesson or two with Sail Laser Weymouth. Lasers are those little boats that British Olympian Ben Ainslie keeps winning golds in – and these are the guys that make them. Classes range from beginners to race training – we’ll let you decide where you fit in.
