A place to rest and relax

o you enjoy another hour in bed and miss out on breakfast – or sacrifice the extra sleep to ensure you arrive before the bacon runs out? This is the dilemma you face when you book into most B&Bs (as much as we love them), but we think we’ve found the solution: give The Buttery in Honingham a whirl instead.
Not only do you get the whole cottage to yourself, but you’ll find fresh bread and other breakfast goodies waiting for you when you arrive. So if you’re not quite ready to surface when the alarm goes off, simply hit the ‘snooze’ button.
As the name suggests, this quirky octagonal thatched ‘cottage’ was originally the dairy for the Berry Hall estate in Norfolk, but has been lovingly restored with unique features like hand-painted tiles and a pamment floor – along with a spa bath in the cosy upstairs bedroom.
Head out for a woodland stroll around the estate (you’ll find maps in the lounge) or pop across to the tennis court for a knock-up in the sunshine – there’s really no need to move very far.
However, if you do feel like exploring, why not grab some bikes and pootle over to Lyng? It’s only about five (flat) miles away, across the lanes, and the steak sandwich is dee-licious.
