Explore idyllic surroundings at your own pace

idden away in the village of Patterdale in the Lake District, this campsite is a fell walker’s dream. Once you’ve pitched your tent, there’s no need to bother with trivialities like an itinerary; not when you can use the landscape in front of your eyes to arrange the afternoon’s activities.
If getting as high above sea level as you can is the aim of the day, then you’ve got England’s third highest peak, Helvellyn and Striding Edge straight ahead; meanwhile, those who like things a little less hilly can take to Ullswater, where canoes and rowing boats can be hired – or how about heading to Glenridding for some mountain biking action?
On site, the facilities are basic, but the local village pubs are on hand if you’re hankering for some home creature comforts (like real ale). If the views alone don’t lure you, early and eager from your tent, perhaps the promise of homemade cake in the onsite tearoom will?
