Cumbrian class with a view
I
t’s a bit of an understatement to call No1 Silverbank a cottage. Yes, it has exposed beams, a log fire and a pretty garden filled with perennials – but that’s only half the story. Following a tasteful renovation by interior designer Antony Hext, the 18th-century house has been, transformed into a smart country-chic home with boutique hotel facilities.
Instead of chintzy ornaments and dusty shelves, you’ll find dark leather sofas and glossy oak floors; a roll-top bath with Aveda toiletries and a Bose sound system and flat screen TV.
Of course, as the mountainside view from the windows reminds you, this is Wordsworth country. Coniston is just a five-minute jaunt away, so getting home from the pub is no problem, and the iconic Old Man mountain and bluebell forest are close by if you fancy a ramble.
Alternatively, you could just stay at home and let everything come to you: spa treatments, your own private chef, hot air balloon rides – even a luxury yacht…
It can be booked (as extras) via the complementary concierge service. The only thing you need to decide now is which you want to do first…
