he English are well known for their love of the eccentric. Up and down the land, every month, events are held that are odes to the odd and the unusual.

Some are steeped in ancient tradition, other more recent happenings concocted over too many pints on bitter. From the World Nettle Eating Championships  to World Toe Wrestling championships  , there are some weird and wonderful events to, literally, sink your teeth into. With most of these unusual events the emphasis is on fun and frivolity. Eccentric they maybe, but the English sure do know how to put on a very different type of fun.
