Tourist Information Centres (TICs)
Make the most of your holiday...
isitor Information centres can be found in most towns in England and are an ideal first point of contact to help you make the most of your visit.
Whether you’re looking for tips on cosy B&Bs, local attractions, eating and drinking options, entertainment or shopping, the centres offer trustworthy advice and excellent service. Staff have a wealth of knowledge and will assist you in how to get to their destination, what to do when you’re there, finding accommodation and share the lesser known hidden gems in their area.
As well as their knowledge of their local area they also offer extensive information about the country as a whole. Better still, they can help you with information in any way you demand it: online, on the phone or in person. So you’ll be able to make the most of your visit, whether you’re visiting for a day, a long weekend or more.

Greeters are volunteers that love their destination and want to share their knowledge with visitors. With their wealth of local knowledge Greeters are able to unearth hidden treasures and bring to life the heritage and culture of a city. This is a free service usually lasting for 2-4 hours catering for individuals or small groups and can be booked on-line prior to arrival. Greeters are not professional guides but through their passion and knowledge they can bring a destination to life.
Blue Badge Guides
Awarded by the Institute of Tourist Guiding, the Blue Badge is the highest guiding qualification in Britain. The training is detailed and comprehensive, the examinations rigorous and registration an achievement.
Blue Bade guides bring sites to life, often telling the stories that are not in the guide books or audio tours. You can book walking tours, coach sight-seeing, museums and galleries, themed tours, conferences and incentives, tours by private cars. For individuals, couples, families or groups... and they can speak your language.
