The mansion was transformed into a country house hotel in 1977, with Andrew and Christina Brownsword becoming its ‘custodians’ in 2005. In 2006 Gidleigh Park underwent a substantial transformation, when the number of bedrooms increased from 14 to 24, all with modern comforts and decor reflecting the Arts and Crafts period.
The restaurant, home to Executive Chef Michael Caines MBE, has held two Michelin stars since 1999.
